When the Albany Vintage & Classic Motorcycle Club needed support for their 25th annual Hill Climb at Middleton Beach on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025, Albany Motorcycles didn’t hesitate. This wasn’t just about sponsorship dollars—it was about rolling up our sleeves and being part of the action.
Community First, Always
For 38+ years, Albany Motorcycles has been more than just a motorcycle dealership. Under Gary Dibble’s leadership, we’ve built our reputation on a simple principle: supporting the riding community that has supported us since 1987. The Hill Climb weekend perfectly exemplified this commitment.
When the club needed help with marshalling duties along the iconic 1.1km Marine Drive course, Gary stepped up personally. Not only did we sponsor the event, but Gary also manned a checkpoint at Elleker, ensuring the safety and smooth running of this beloved tradition.
The Perfect Solution on Two Wheels
Here’s where it gets interesting. The club’s marshalls needed a fast, agile way to collect results and perform track sweeps between runs on the challenging Marine Drive hill. The solution? We loaned them a SYM DRGBT Sports Scooter straight from our shop floor.

The marshall had so much fun zipping up and down the course that he’s already volunteered for next year—on one condition: he gets a scooter to ride again! It’s moments like these that remind us why we love what we do. This wasn’t just practical support; it was sharing the pure joy of two-wheeled freedom with fellow enthusiasts.
More Than Just Motorcycles
The Albany Vintage & Classic Motorcycle Club Hill Climb represents everything we value about motorcycling culture: heritage, community, and passion. Watching pre-1980 vintage and classic bikes tackle the Marine Drive hill—some having travelled thousands of kilometres to participate—reminds us of motorcycling’s rich history and enduring appeal.

This event, now celebrating its quarter-century milestone, brings together riders from across Australia to compete, connect, and celebrate their love of classic machines. The weekend features everything from Saturday’s motorcycle display on Stirling Terrace, the raffle run around the district and to Sunday’s competitive hill climb, with camping at the Albany Rifle Club creating a true community atmosphere.
Supporting Albany’s Riding Culture
Our involvement in the Hill Climb is just one example of our commitment to the Albany community. Whether it’s sponsoring soapbox racing, supporting speedway events, or helping out vintage motorcycle enthusiasts, Albany Motorcycles believes in giving back to the riders who’ve been part of our family for nearly four decades.
Gary knows that supporting local clubs and events isn’t just good business—it’s family. These connections strengthen the fabric of Albany’s motorcycling community and ensure that future generations can enjoy the same riding culture we’ve cherished since 1987.
